Start Your Healthy Eating With Sausage
Thursday, May 21, 2009 13:35Sausages are probably the easiest food to cook for busy families. Sausages and mash with gravy has a mouth watering image.
Sausages are the number one enemy in any weight loss program. Sausages are cheap because generally they can contain a mix of all the leftover parts together with lots of fat.Grilling a sausage reveals a large pool of fat. Frying conceals the fat and often adds more.
Healthy eating is all about awareness of what you are eating and the ingredients. If no ingredients are published because the food has no label then common sense comes in. My mother used to insist that she should inspect and select the steak before it was put through the mincing machine.
The second no no food in any weight loss program is pastry. Quiche has become a very popular food but the pastry is made with a high fat content. The egg and bacon or egg and broccoli may be fine to eat but leave the pastry on the plate.
A so called healthy food is fish and chips probably one of the most popular food dishes in the UK. A well balanced diet of carbohydrate and protein served with peas and a wedge of lemon. The lemon helps to break down the fats but remember that this is a deep fried concoction. The batter around the fish will soak up the fat during the frying process. So be clever and consider the batter as simply a carcass to cut off and leave on a side plate. What you are interested in is the cooked fish inside the batter. Don’t forget go light on the chips. Add a healthy salad, just don’t add a sausage.
